Homage Cookies for Lisa Congdon: one of my design heroes
I just visited Portland, a land full of artists and crafters and amongst them is someone I have been a fan of for a long time: @lisacongdon
I came because she invited @artbrandalliance members to a get together at her studio. It was a lovely, fun, inspiring evening of women artists meeting and seeing each other in 3D after months of zooms.
What better way to fan out that to bake cookies for Lisa and the other artists and decorate them with Lisa's art!
I think that homage cookies are the only acceptable way to copy another artist’s work, BTY.
So, why am I a fan of Lisa?
1-HER ART: obviously it is wonderful, powerful, both retro and super avant-garde, colorful yet with highly recognizable colors. So different from mine! yet I sort of want all her products and the art of her current gallery show @stephaniechefasprojects is
2-HER PATH: her steady ascend from new artist to iconic artist is something to be amazed by.
3-HER VOICE: of course her lettering is fabulous, but the words she writes are full of action, empowerment and positive force.
4-HER BOOKS: no matter where you are in your career as an artist, her books are full of useful bits, interesting conversations with other artists and illustrated with her art. I specially love Finding your Voice
5-HER OPENNESS: have your heard her podcast? or any other interview with her? She has a clear open voice about her personal story, her art making, her points of view over all kinds of subjects.
6- HER GENEROSITY: she has the experience, and a lot of lessons learnt, and she definitely like to spread her knowledge and experience to help others
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I am sure she does not need my humble spotlight and I am sure if you are reading this you already know her, but just in case you don't check out all her wonderful things.
Who else I fan out? All women artists determined that stick with their art making regardless of whether the phone is ringing for commissions or not yet.
