Graphic Novel: from random objects to the first page of a graphic novel

This is another Make Art that Sells assignment by Lilla Rogers. From her pick of random objects and imagery, I get to create a graphic novel -a one-page one or the first page of one.The random pics included a vintage photo of a young fellow, the instructions for playing canasta, vintage botanical with roses, and more.
The resulting story was about young fellow who loved roses more than anything and his family’s tradition of a weekly canasta game. I chose to focus on the artwork for each panel, using a limited color palette:

Rich ultramarine watercolor over pastel washes in the background.

The story is not groundbreaking (it was an illustration job, not a writing one) but somehow as I worked on it I grew fond of the fellow and his rose love and I got quite intrigued about the family dynamics and what could happen in the following pages.

What do your think happens in the following pages? why is the Father so stern and judgy?
