PaperGirl Spotlight: Calicos & Cherry Blossoms

I love cherry trees in blossom! When we lived in New York City, every Spring I would have a picnic with my daughter under the pink blossoms -from baby to 8 years old when we moved to California. Under those very cherry trees is that I created, in her company, the artwork that would then become the fabric for this PaperGirl Collection dress. Using watercolors and hand-carved stamps, I created the Japanese-inspired wide landscape that wraps all around the dress without any seam.
Instead of people picnicking, I put calico cats. These cats, which in Japan are called maneki-neko, are considered symbols of fortune and protection and are usually found in temples.

Like every PaperGirl dress, in the hangtag, there is a mini 3”x5” companion storybook where you can read about the day the calicos had their own get-together under the cherry blossoms.

This PaperGirl Collection dress is made of super soft Japanese cotton and perfect for sunny days of Summer (or with leggings as a jumper the rest of the year).

It is available in sizes for baby 9-18 months to girls 6-7 years.

Coming soon to the shop, it will be available as an art print.
